The Glimpses of Harimandir The Abode of God
Harimandir as its very name speaks out is house of God. It is the most sacred
shrine of the Sikhs the 'Sanctum Sanatorum' for which a Sikh lives and dies.
Its foundation was laid by Muslim Sufi Saint Mian Mir Ji. With this benevolent
act of the Guru, the far-sighted Guru rendered all the prejudicial and discriminating
thinking on religious planks meaningless. Infact the four gates providing access to
the Harimandir indicate the noble intention that this holy shrine is accessible to
all the people dwelling in four directions of the universe irrespective of their
caste, colour, creed, region or religion. In Harimandir the food supplied is free,
the accommodation given is free, the kirtan provided is free, every service is
absolutely free for everyone, even for the enemy if any, but Harimandir never thinks
in the terms of enemies. While in Harimandir Sahib no one can be discriminated, it is
against the very basic tenets of Sikhism which considered everyone equal in the eyes
of lord God. The bliss one gets while being in Harimandir Complex is beyond the
comprehension of the words. Harimandir undoubtedly is the spiritual monument and
pivotal worshipping place for the whole humanity. A Sikh is just its custodian a
sevadar, a helper, a server, a person to look after it and maintain its glory and
makes its maryada functional. Harimandir is a source of all blessings and
blisses. It is here, where every heart rejoices and soul is uplifted. Its pilgrimage
provides happiness, holy bath in its pond provides health and relieves of ailments.
Its pious glimpse vanishes sins, a weary mind becomes stable and enjoys celestial
bliss and encouragement. It is such a joyous place where one can feel the glow of
cosmic radiance. This is the natural reputation attached with Harimandir Sahib which
it is maintaining for all these times. A Sikh attached emotionally and spiritually
with the Godly Shrine, must by all means be a person of lofty thinking and ever
obliging disposition. It is an eternal jpgt for him a sachkhand(heavenly abode) which
is available to him in Amritsar itself. Going by the history connected with this
abode of God, its sacred and lovely environments, its majestic glittering and
magnificently appealing structure, its shinning but soothing serenity, provides this
sanctum sanatorum a status of ever living souvenir or eternal trophy of everything
good and praise worthy which the Sikh nation possesses. This book is written to
provide maximum all round information about Harimandir Sahib with a devotional touch.
