Hair Power 'Hair Power' is a book of its own which discusses in its religio-cultural perspective one of the basic tenets of the Sikhs i.e. keeping unshorn hair as God jpgt and Godly duty. Various Commandments of the tenth Guru regarding keeping of hair and their sacredness are discussed at length. The tendencies of the modern youth who violate the sanctity of the hair under the modern fads and trend-setting of the sheepishness. Basing his observations on personal experience of the study of the Sikh religious ethics, exegesis, the writer has discussed the whole problem from the view point of the biological growth of homo sapiens in their evolutionary growth, scientific perspective and with penetrating insight. Such a view of scared commandment is not just blind adherence to a religious practice, it is the result of the interplay of head and heart, reason and faith, wisdom and knowledge. The book is applauded by all sections of society and about three dozen editions have been published in all and distributed so far. It is a sort of research book on study of hair on different aspects. This English book is also available in Punjabi and Hindi too. So far its nine English editions, nineteen Punjabi editions, one abriged edition in Bengali and one Hindi edition have been published till Feb 2003. The material of this book is printed in very huge quantity in numerous small editions to be distributed freely, liberally in schools, colleges and Dharmic Dewans. |
